"Djing together now feels really natural; although it hasn’t always been, we’ve definitely worked hard to get where we are today. Countless hours of practice where you have to push through to get to where you want to be." - Blasha & Allatt.

Describe your style in 3 words. No genres!

Pacey, Groove-ridden, Bangers

Been to / played at E1 before?

Tasha: I believe this was where the legendary Blueprint parties took place! I remember being there back in 2014 for The Hydra, although the night nearly didn’t get started - I got stuck in a lift with some mates just as we were leaving the apartment... luckily the fire brigade sorted us out! I can remember staying for DVS1’s set pretty much the whole night Looking forward to checking out the space properly soon!

Steffi: This will be my first time here as a punter and DJ, actually!

First record you bought?

Tasha: Life & Death - Step Aside Remixes. I bought this for the Carl Craig remix of Morgana

Steffi: Timbaland & Magoo Ft. Missy Elliott - Cop That Shit back when I was 19 and first dabbling with djing.

What project are you most excited about right now?

We're literally excited by everything at the minute since we've been out of action for so long. We are just grateful for the chance to play at this point.

Warm Up Weapon: Subradeon - The Last Trumpet

Why: Subradeon have been making incredible music for years now and we always find ourselves drawn to the catchiness of the chords and vocals in their productions. In recent weeks we got this EP on Trapid and can easily see this being included in some upcoming sets as a key warm-up weapon.

-------------------------------------------

Peak Time: Rene Wise - Pleasure Note

Why: Not had a chance to play this one out yet but we included it in our recent mix for the Real Techno group, pitched up to around +6 bpm. We know this tune will cause some serious damage on the dancefloor in the coming months, now we’ve been given the green light to reopen!

-------------------------------------------

One Last Tune: 3 Phase feat Dr Motte – Der Klang der Familie

Why: Eternal classic. We played it one time at The White Hotel during a closing set and it fully went off, so this one sticks in our mind.

-------------------------------------------

After-Party: Grace Not Over Yet [Perfecto Mix]

Why: Perfect for playing as the sun comes up!

-------------------------------------------

Wild Card: Knarz – Uns Verbrennt Die Nacht

Why: It’s the perfect track to switch up the vibe if you feel like you need to draw the crowd back in a touch. The interesting thing about this track is that it transitions so well from heavier techno but without sounding out of place. Everytime this drops you get such a great reaction, hence why it stays on rotation in the bag!

-------------------------------------------

Next Morning: CYRK - FANTASY feat. C. EUSEBIO

Why: On more of a housey tip, this track is beautiful and so underrated, it’s insane! Shout out Cyrk!

How did you both meet? And can you remember your first set together?

Steffi: We met through a mutual friend of ours, Meg. We stayed friends on FB for a few years and saw that we were both djing, so decided to get back in touch. This was in 2012 and it spiralled from there.

Tasha: Our first gig was in Sankeys bar - I asked Steffi to jump on with me, it wasn’t an official ‘Blasha & Allatt’ gig and looking back, we definitely weren’t the best ;) We were both playing on CDJ1000’s and were probably all over the shop, but it was the start of it all. Looking back, we’re grateful for these formative experiences. Of course, it’s something we can now laugh about too!

How do you find producing / DJing as a duo? You’ve been performing together for quite a while now, so there must be some great chemistry there...

Steffi: Djing together now feels really natural; although it hasn’t always been, we’ve definitely worked hard to get where we are today. Countless hours of practice where you have to push through to get to where you want to be. When we first started out, as you’d expect, things were not perfect. Initially, we’d plan sets but soon realised that this didn’t allow for any spontaneity or connection with the people dancing in front of you.

As time went on, our confidence grew immeasurably but this was mostly down to our Meat Free residency. Our home crowd has always been incredibly supportive which has pushed us to try new things, which maybe we might have avoided if not given the opportunity. Nowadays, before a gig, we tend to just have a chat beforehand to make sure we’re picking out the right records. Generally we both have the same vision for how we want the set to go.

With regards to production, we’ve only had a few tracks and remixes out so far, although we’re currently working towards our first EP. We’re still trying to find our flow working together in the studio - we’re both perfectionists which can make us work a lot slower than we’d like to. To speed up the process we don’t always work on projects from scratch together, often one of us will bring an idea to the table and then we’ll both start working on that.
