Published on Tuesday 2 August 2022

Welcome to The Goods. Our series of mixes, track selections and quick-fire questions that bring you closer to your favourite artists.

Manchester-based trio Mason Collective have been going from strength to strength over the last several months, with vibrant releases on Knee Deep in Sound, Whippin and LW Recordings. Following summer stints at Amnesia Ibiza, Brooklyn Mirage and many more, we’re looking forward to hearing the multi-dynamic outfit soundtrack our space on August 20th.

Describe your style in 3 words. No Genres.

Fast-paced energetic groove!

Have you been to / played at E1 before?

Blair: Yeah we've been down a few times! Last time we were there we played B2B with our boy Jean Pierre at Mas Vida which was dope, the energy is always high at E1.

Favourite room?

Omar: We played in the main room so we have to say that's our favourite at the moment. The Funktion-One system in there sounds incredible, the lighting adds to the warehouse rave feel too.

First music memory?

Adam: My dad has his own soundsystem the he built so my earliest memories are of him playing oldschool Reggae and Dub tracks on that. I was too young to try and DJ at that point though I probably would have broke something.
Blair: I think it comes from my parents as well, Soul and RnB was always playing in the house and probably sparked my interest in music.

First record you bought?

Adam: My older brother started collecting music before me and the first record he gave me was 'NERD - In Search Of...'. I think the first one I bought myself was The Prodigy - Fat Of The Land'. Both classics.

First rave you went to?

Omar: The first rave we went to was when we were about 14. There were a few collectives around Manchester that used to run illegal warehouse parties around the city. They were a lot different to the parties we go to now but they taught us a lot about electronic music and the party scene. The first club event we went to was probably one at Sankeys Manchester, which is where we came up with the idea for MVSON.

What project are you most excited about right now?

We just had our first festival 'MVSON World', which we're still excited about. The weather was perfect which is unusual for Manchester, and it sold out. We feel like it's the start of something special. We also have new music dropping soon on our label, 'Whippin'.

5 tracks your loving at the moment:

Mason Collective - Peru // A track we've been teasing all year that's creating a huge hype. Slowly becoming the track of the summer.

Gabriele Toma - Groove Latino // Another anthem that's been doing the rounds, due out on the 5th of August on our label Whippin.

Tems - Crazy Tings (TMB Edit) // Fire new edit from the bros of Tems whos one of our favourite artists in general right now

High Soundsytem - Morning Routine // Real crowd mover.

FLETCH - Reality Thing // Off our boy Fletch's latest EP. Works well in any set.
